PayPal & Stripe extensions

Pricing model

Interchange-plus pricing through Cybersource. Gateway fees depend on your Cybersource agreement.

PayPal: roughly 2.99% + $0.30 to 3.49% + $0.49 domestic, plus 1.5% international (figures vary by account type). Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30 domestic, plus 1.5% international and 1% currency conversion. OpenCart has no single native processor, so pricing depends on which extension a merchant installs.

Payout timing

Configured during onboarding with your Finix team.

PayPal: 1–3 business days free, or instant for a 1.75% fee capped at $25. Stripe: first payout takes 7–10 business days, then a rolling 2- or 7-day schedule.

Payment reviews and temporary account holds can occur depending on each provider's risk processes.

Quick recap of Finix vs. PayPal and Stripe extensions

OpenCart doesn't include a single default payment processor, so merchants often use separate PayPal or Stripe extensions, each with its own pricing and support model. Finix consolidates this into one interchange-plus relationship through Cybersource. The real trade-off is version compatibility: this integration only supports OpenCart 3.0.3.7 through 3.0.3.9, so merchants on newer or older builds should confirm compatibility first.

Why merchants switch to Finix

Pain point

Finix solution

OpenCart merchants often piece together separate payment extensions, each with its own pricing, support, and management experience.

Finix consolidates payment acceptance into one interchange-plus relationship through the Cybersource gateway integration, so merchants aren’t managing separate fee structures and extension vendors for cards versus digital wallets.

Merchants want responsive support when payments are delayed or accounts are reviewed.

Finix’s dedicated account support works through disputes and holds directly with merchants, rather than routing them through an automated risk queue.

Payment support often depends on whichever extension or provider you're using.

Support on Finix’s OpenCart integration comes from a human account team, not a ticket queue, so merchants have a direct line for payments questions.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Finix connects to OpenCart through a Cybersource Gateway integration, so your storefront, catalog, and checkout flow stay the same. You’re changing how payments are processed, not your platform.

Setting up Finix means disabling your existing payment extension and making the Cybersource Credit Card and eCheck modules your active payment methods. They don’t run side by side. Your store, catalog, and customer data stay unchanged.

Not strictly. Setup happens through an OpenCart Marketplace extension and OpenCart’s own admin settings, without custom code. You will need to manually enter three separate Cybersource credentials, and your store must run OpenCart 3.0.3.7, 3.0.3.8, or 3.0.3.9.

Nothing changes. Order history, catalog, and customer data live in OpenCart regardless of which payment gateway is active. Switching to Finix only changes how new transactions are processed.

Not confirmed. Finix’s Cybersource extension for OpenCart confirms card payments, 3D Secure, tokenization, recurring payments, and eCheck. Apple Pay and Google Pay aren’t named in Finix’s or Cybersource’s OpenCart documentation; check with your integrations contact if these are required.

OpenCart 3.0.3.7, 3.0.3.8, or 3.0.3.9. Confirm your store’s version before starting setup, since the Cybersource extension isn’t documented for other OpenCart releases.
